Shannon Wilburn, CFE, CEO & Co-Founder
Just Between Friends franchise’s CEO Shannon Wilburn co-founded the company back in 1997 as one of two moms in Tulsa, Oklahoma, who wanted to save money on children’s items while dressing their kids in the latest and greatest fashions. Together with her co-founder, Daven Tackett, she held a sale in her living room (complete with kitchen drawers for cash registers) that grossed slightly over $2,000. And she was thrilled! Since then, the concept has grown—as has its reach—as now you can find JBF sales events across the country! But the road to success hasn’t always been easy. In fact, growth has often brought many challenges and obstacles to overcome. That’s nothing new to Shannon.
When her father went from oil company CFO to using a wheelchair and being unemployed, 12-year-old Shannon began to learn what it meant to live on a tight budget. Little did she know her newfound need for consignment shopping would later turn into a career that would help hundreds of thousands across the country. Now, she is able to help families make it through, too—and she still shops consignment, not because she has to, but because she loves saving money!
Now, she continues to oversee operations and work with her staff to support franchisees as they grow their businesses. Shannon also speaks across the country, encouraging those who would follow in her footsteps to work hard and dream big—because you never know what amazing things will happen! She enjoys spending time with her two grown children and husband of 27 years.
Mike Breeze, Chief Financial Officer
Mike brings over 20 years of experience in management, business planning, financial analysis, financial services, capital planning, technology and real estate. He works with Just Between Friends to provide support in all financial realms. Along with additional support staff, Mike helps oversee and maintain all aspects of financial strategy and provide additional support for operations strategy. Mike enjoys serving in his community of Media, Pennsylvania, where he is an active participant on the Temple University Alumni Board of Directors, President of the Fox School of Business Alumni Association, and Executive Committee of Temple University Alumni Association where he co-chairs strategic planning. He and his wife, Lauren, enjoy sailing, trap shooting, running, and golfing. He holds a Bachelor’s of Science in Economics and Operations Research from Temple University and a Masters of Business Administration in Finance from LaSalle University.
Erin Patrick, CFE, Director of Operations
As the Director of Operations, Erin works to improve processes and policies and develop strategic plans in support of organizational goals. She develops, implements and maintains tools to better gauge the success of franchisees, while also facilitating coordination and communication between franchisees and our JBF corporate team. Erin is also tasked with managing the corporate staff. Born and raised in the Far East (Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania), Erin came to Oklahoma in 1983 to attend Bible school…and never left. She and her husband have raised nine (yes, nine!) kids and enjoy spending time with their nine immensely talented grandchildren. When she’s not assisting Just Between Friends franchise owners or doing life with family and friends, you will find Erin enjoying her vegetable and herb garden, writing her award-winning blog, or snapping pics that capture her unique take on life in the fast lane.
Lori Lalli, Franchise Recruiter
Lori serves Just Between Friends by helping other would-be owners find the joys of operating sales in their communities. She guides prospective franchisees through the process of what it takes to be a part of JBF, answering questions and helping determine if there is a good fit. Lori first consigned at JBF events to supplement their family income while raising her now grown children. She is very familiar with how JBF events work and what a blessing these events are to their local communities. Lori has worked in sales and now brings those professional skills to JBF. Her winning personality, knowledge of JBF, strong sales background and passion for working with a God-centered company make her a perfect fit. Born at the Fort Sill Army base in Oklahoma, Lori grew up mostly in Missouri. She came back to Oklahoma to attend Oklahoma Christian University where she met husband, Monte. Her family enjoyed spending time in El Salvador as missionaries and have a shared passion for fishing and outdoor activities. Most days you can find Lori being taken for walks by their dog, Major—one of her favorite things to do.
Laura Staggs, Franchisee Care Coordinator
Laura provides one-on-one support—answering questions for JBF owners and making sure they have what they need to effectively run their sales events. With more than 16 years of experience running her own JBF events, Laura has the moxie and real-life experience owners need—specializing in communication and public relations. Laura taught fourth grade and special education for 11 years while also growing her JBF business. She hung up her teaching hat in 2009 to work on her JBF businesses full time. She stays busy running seven events each year while pursuing her first love—being a full-time mom to her two boys. When Laura is not busy helping franchisees or running one of her sales events, you can find her hanging with hubby, Tim, playing softball with her boys, or enjoying the beauty of life—watching the big horizon skies from her favorite spot on her front porch in Erie, Colorado. And her hidden talents? Laura throws a mean curveball and can whip up an amazing tortilla soup!
Dawn Pfannenstiel, Director of Training and Support
Having owned two franchises, Dawn understands what it takes to operate a successful franchise. Now Dawn coordinates training for new Just Between Friends franchisees and also provides ongoing training and support for all JBF franchise owners—giving them the tools they need to effectively run their sales events. You typically can find Dawn on her phone offering technical expertise in the various JBF systems or leaping tall buildings to respond quickly to owner e-mails. During her spare time, she roots on the Colts even though she has been transplanted to the Tulsa area. At her home headquarters, she keeps the wheels on the family bus moving with her husband, two kids, and two cats. This sports-loving bunch somehow keeps tabs on seven fantasy football teams. When the family SUV is not in chauffeur mode, Dawn enjoys working out, finding and sharing great deals with friends and family, and sneaking a few minutes of relaxation through hunting down great apps to add to her phone (because you can never have too many fabulous apps!). Her mysterious background includes time in minor league sports, sign-language interpretation, human resources, and recruiting for a Big 5 accounting firm—until she found her true lifetime love, Just Between Friends.
Brenna Bewley, Team Coordinator
Brenna is the go-to person for staff support—assisting the JBF On-Call and Support Teams by handling administrative tasks such as monitoring incoming franchisee questions and helping prepare for quarterly new franchisee training. She also provides ongoing support to the Management and Executive Teams, making sure the details are covered, updating project reports, manuals, and handbooks and helping with research as needed. Brenna comes from a large family and loves to spoil her godchildren and nieces. Any free time will typically find her curled up with a book. When not reading, she is busy with church and her family. She loves to travel and is always up for life’s new adventures!
Kami Snowbarger, Director of Product Communication, Safety & Recall Specialist
Kami works to keep all JBF sales as safe as possible. She is a certified Child Passenger Safety Technician (CPST) with Safe Kids and is on the Board of Directors for the International Consumer Product Health and Safety Organization (ICPHSO). Kami is highly involved in the child product safety industry, working with the Consumer Product Safety Commission to make sure our franchise owners and shoppers have the latest information on safety recalls and ever-changing product safety guidelines. She stands out as the only on-staff safety and recall professional in the children’s and maternity consignment event industry. Her vast knowledge of product recalls and attention to detail led to her current position. Above all, Kami is passionate about keeping children safe. She is an Oklahoma native who has lived in Jenks most of her life. Kami’s home is always bustling with the energy that comes from spending time with husband, Tadd, and their two amazing, busy kids. She loves to spend her evenings unwinding by stalking Pinterest, scrolling Instagram, and surfing Facebook.
Angela Lewallen, Franchise Administrator
Angela’s core responsibilities include administrative support for new and established franchise owners along with overseeing additional administrative areas of Just Between Friends. She keeps things running smoothly by processing paperwork, answering questions, and connecting franchise owners with other Just Between Friends support systems.
Angela was born in Oklahoma and has been married to the love of her life, Jason, since 1998. They have four sons and one beautiful granddaughter who keep them on their toes! Before coming to JBF, Angela was first a stay-at-home mom and also spent some time as a preschool teacher. She has consigned with Just Between Friends for nearly 10 years because she just can’t stay away from the phenomenal deals! Angela loves spending time with her family, watching her boys play sports, finding amazing bargains, and getting as many snuggles and giggles from her granddaughter as possible.
Kathy Hanover, Design Online and Branding Coordinator
Kathy works with Just Between Friends’ online marketing software, supporting franchise owners by proofing and approving marketing materials for publication and distribution. She helps maintain branding consistency and provide a second set of eagle eyes to make sure information is clear and accurate. Her degree in business administration and keen eye for details help keep JBF looking pretty and typo-free. Her professional background includes work in the insurance industry as a part-time proofreader and typist during her college days (where she actually used a real-live typewriter). Kathy’s strong organization skills have made her invaluable at area sales events where she keeps the most-organized workroom you’ve ever seen. This has also served as a model for other sales’ plans and processes. A Tulsa native, Kathy has been married for over a quarter of a century to husband, Kevin. They have two wonderful sons and grandsons. She is very active in her church and loves spending time with her family and traveling. Her secret talent involves special Seinfeld dance moves. If you see her at an area sales event, ask her to bust out her best “Elaine.”
Dianne supports Just Between Friends in the areas of strategy, marketing, meeting and event planning, and operations. She has worked alongside Shannon to position Just Between Friends for success since 2000. Dianne’s expertise comes from more than 25 years of experience in corporate America in the hospitality and travel industry. It was there that she learned skills and strategies that allowed her to launch her own business in 2000. In addition to JBF, she also works with other corporations, organizations, and associations in the areas of event production, strategy, marketing, and public relations. Dianne’s love for a challenge, coupled with her strong industry relationships and never-say-die attitude, make her a key component in her clients’ success. She is a native Oklahoman, and though she loves traveling the world for both business and fun, she is always excited to come back home to family—Richard, three children, her precious grandbabies and their three best rescue dachshunds, Cooper, Maggie, and latest addition, Gibson.
Autumn serves Just Between Friends in the areas of marketing, communication arts and design, and executive team consulting. She utilizes her 25-plus years of experience in the corporate and independent design worlds to create messages that communicate the fun of mind-blowing savings to those who soon find the pure joy of retail alternatives. Autumn loves using words and imagery to reach people to make an impact. She runs Graphic Minion Studios in Breckenridge, Colorado, where she and husband, Greg, and two awesome kids (along with their two collie rescue dogs) settled after a history of traveling across the country (and before that, the world—Autumn is originally from Manila, Philippines). When she is not playing with her Mac toys or dodging the local moose in the yard, she loves reading, hiking, skiing, cooking, and Netflix binging. Her goal in design is simple: Love more + Do more good.
Jay has more than 32 years of public accounting experience and leads BDO’s National Franchise Practice and Southwest Regional Assurance Services group. He is heavily involved in the International Franchise Association (IFA) where he has presented Hall of Fame awards and also spoken at numerous conferences on topics including expansion, operations and finance. Jay has also served in multiple capacities with the IFA and attends more than ten IFA conferences annually. With BDO, Jay has served on its Board of Directors and as the National Assurance Business Line Leader and Managing Partner for the Dallas office assurance practice. He leads the firm’s national Marketing Task Force and is involved in national and international M&A expansion efforts. He has led numerous audits and consulting engagements for a diverse client base, assisted with mergers, acquisitions, takeovers and divestitures. Jay’s experience with various industries—from franchising, healthcare, manufacturing and distribution, retail and consumer products to financial services—helps him offer Just Between Friends a broad knowledge base and wealth of practical application. When not attending an IFA conference or traveling for work, Jay enjoys the movies; his favorite is the 1992 American drama Glengarry Glen Ross.
Known in the franchise industry as “Johnny Franchise,” John grew up as part of a franchise family who owned franchise systems Cost Cutters, City Looks and We Care Hair. Once these systems were sold, John turned his interests to helping everyone in the franchise industry. He considers himself a franchise expert—not a marketing expert, or a sales expert— and he loves to step in and help franchisees understand the issues facing them to help grow through challenges. He offers a real assessment of where franchises are, in a no-nonsense way, then talks about possibilities to move forward. He helps brands in a number of capacities. What makes him different is that he can relate to a lot of people in a lot of levels in a positive, constructive way—having been in a number of positions within franchising himself. He loves to give back by encouraging dads to be an active force in their kids’ lives and be their kids’ hero. He accidentally began the once-a-year event called “Fathers Eve,” which happens the night before Fathers’ Day—a night out for dads to celebrate together. It has since grown to 42 cities and 3 countries! The most important life lesson he learned from his dad was to always look for the “Win/Win.” This shared philosophy is probably why he and CEO, Shannon, get along so well.
Known for his ability to communicate the most technical of details in the simplest language, Ryan has a unique ability to talk tech in a way that people understand. He has a deep technical knowledge balanced with strong business acumen and a heart for helping families. His interminable work ethic and drive have helped him work his way up through to his current position as Chief Information Officer for Fiesta Restaurant Group. He specializes in technology strategy, helping companies pinpoint areas of technology weakness to be able to plan a path forward to drive change and innovate their marketplaces. He has a proven ability to communicate at all levels of an organization to translate vision into reality. He and wife, Susan, have two grown sons. Since becoming empty-nesters, they enjoy travel and hiking—their latest adventure being the hiking of Mt. Elbert—the highest fourteener peak in the Colorado Rockies.
Josh Wall is the Chief Development Officer for Christian Brothers Automotive, America’s fastest growing full service automotive repair franchise with more than 200 locations operating and another 50+ awarded and in development. He serves as part of the company’s core leadership team where he is responsible for the strategy and execution of the brand’s growth plan. More specifically, Josh supports and leads a phenomenal team that oversees the franchise recruitment efforts, real estate site selection, design, construction, real estate finance and legal as the company grows through its franchise development, real estate development and sale/leaseback program. Josh has been with Christian Brothers for 16 years, where he has also served in operational consulting roles, store opening/training and then launched and led the consumer marketing team for 8 years. During his tenure, Josh’s team has been responsible for recruiting franchisees and developing locations that have led the brand to the top of its industry segment in Net Promoter Score (NPS); Average Unit Volume (AUV) for non-tire sellers, and have never closed a location.He has a B.S. in Political Science from TCU in Fort Worth, TX, is a Certified Franchise Executive through the International Franchise Association, and is a member of the International Council of Shopping Centers. Josh lives in Houston, TX with his wife and three daughters.
